The rise of automation in the American job market is causing concern among many workers, with fears that their current employment may be displaced by robots. By 2030, it is estimated that 73 million jobs in the US could be eliminated by automation. While 20 million manufacturing jobs are at risk of being displaced by robots, 25% of all American jobs are highly susceptible to automation, especially those that involve repetitive tasks and predictable outcomes. Although 37% of Americans worry about automation displacing them from their jobs, 85% still approve of automation in dangerous or unhealthy jobs. The potential impact of automation can be prepared for by implementing policies such as retraining programs and wage protection while exploring the beneficial uses of robots to reduce hazardous working conditions.
